Birthdays, movies and the stuff inbetween

I am waiting for the rain to pass before heading off home and its so dark and gloomy outside already. That is Cape town for you, in Summer and Spring everyone is envious of blue skies and summer sun and it winter it gets bitterly cold. Thank goodness I invested in a woolies pink thermal blanket (I am petrified of being in bed and getting electrocuted) and I am now tucked into bed at a decent hour reading some Marian Keyes.

It was my birthday the other day and the evening before was devoted to my beloved cupcakes. I spent like 10 hours perfecting them, decorated them with chocolate, cream, caramel, icing, orange rind, pepperment crisp, special butterflies, hearts, sugar crystals!! Nigella in the making is soooo happening. Then there was all the mails, smses (from scotland ) phonecalls and the like. Even though I spent the day at work, there is nothing like neatly blow dried hair and wearing the birthday crown for the day. The evening I spent with family, my cousin was getting married that Sunday and on the Friday night there usually is a braai. Which wasnt bad cause it meant yummy food and getting all my cousins esp the ones i havent seen in a bit. There were singers and i got sung an indian version of the birthday song (i was thouroughly embaressed but do you expect anything less from my uncles!!)

The saturday the birthday continued with my KD who made it extra special (smile)

And movies. Ah you know my addiction to the silver screen. Sex n the city was hmn okish. Sumaya liked it a lot i was kinda like hmmmn that was okay. I didnt want her to end up with Big and the fact that he leaves her at the Alter (oh that dress was divine) and she still marries him didnt go well for me.

Ive watched quite a few movies with my movie date actually.

The other Boleyn girl was really good, new found espect for Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johnson is gorgeous although I cant imagine her as a bad girl, a bit of a lack in versatility I thing.

Bricklane was lovely and I particulary liked the ending. No Bollywood movie and not such fans will be severly dissapointed but brilliant dialogue if not too sentimenal visuals (apart from the sex scene with her husband that was just really bad)
